Devoted to the appreciation and preservation of antique radios, especially the Regency TR-1, and other products made by I.D.E.A, Inc. Regency Electronics.

I am always interested in buying products made by Regency Electronics, including transistor radios, ham radio transceivers (especially Trans Scans) vacuum tube hi-fi gear, documentation, Monitoradios, short wave receivers, and scanners. If you have something for sale, please let me know. If you are thinking about listing a Regency product on eBAY, please allow me to make you an offer for your item. Please email me and let me know what you have to sell.

A special thank you goes out to Mr. Karl Koogle, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Lowrey, and Dr. David Mednick for allowing me to enhance my radio collection with special sets from their own personal collections. I will always be grateful to each one of you.

I am currently working on a story (book?) about the history of I.D.E.A, Regency Electronics, and would like to thank the following people, all related to Regency Electronics in some way, for relating their historical accounts to me:

Leo Bovard, engineer (worked on the first electronic switching scanning receiver at the suggestion of Al Lovell, former Regency employee and founder of Electra Corporation.

Arnal Cook, engineer (worked on the Regency Touch 16 scanning receiver, Regency's first front keyboard programmable scanner and wrote the manual for it.

Janet Healy Reitig, Regency employee 1967 - 1981

Evelyn Koch, wife of Regency Master Engineer Richard C. Koch, and patent holder for the TR-1 circuit.

Don Pies, son of John Pies, Regency Co-Founder.

Jim Sommer, general counsel for the company

Reba Weaver (wife of Regency Electronics co-founder Joe Weaver).

Paul Farmer and Dr. David Mednick for consistantly being a source of information pertaining to Regency and the radio collecting hobby.

Thank you all very much for helping me pursue my dream of documenting the story of Regency Electronics.

If you worked for Regency Electronics, either on the Regency TR-1 or other projects, or have a story to tell about the company or its products, I would really appreciate hearing from you. I have found each new person I have met in the course of this project to be a valuable resource of information, and a great person to know.

I am trying to locate the following individuals to enhance my research:

Duane Berner, former Regency president

Paul Davis (Texas Instruments)

Floyd Hayhurst (Regency)

Bill Rice, former Regency employee and founder of Ritron, Carmel, IN

Family of Mr. Tudor, former Regency president

Ray Warren, former owner of Indy Piano Service

New!  Register your Regency TR-1 here!  I will be compiling specific characteristics of TR-1's, and your radio can be a part of this database.  Just click on the email link near the top of this page and provide the following information about your radio(s):  serial number, date code on the tuning capacitor, case color, transistor date codes if they appear on one or all four transistors (don't bend them just to check for this), folded or straight battery tabs, whether or not there is a dimple on the back case half (under the label), and molded Regency logo/crown or surface graphics logo.  Your name and email address will NOT be published.  The goal is to obtain a sufficient sample size of these characteristics to show trends that are known to exist as the serial numbers increase.  Information will be posted here as data becomes available.
